International Animation Film Festival (March 8 – 12, 2023)

Under_the_Radar 2023, the festival for experimental film and animation by ASIFA, will take place from 17 to 23 April in Room D of the MQ.

The three-day festival at mumok, Belvedere 21 and TQW offers the opportunity to condense feminist themes from film and media - and beyond: art, dance, theatre. In the form of film talks, debates, artist talks, participatory and performative formats, spaces for thought and action are opened up.

A 40th ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival and the 10th anniversary of Doris Uhlich’s classic: "more than naked" premiered at ImPulsTanz in 2013! Now we celebrate these two high-energy occasions together with you, our highly esteemed audience.

Fireworks, firemen, raving and rioting: "BURN!" is controlled chaos. Esben Weile Kjær, who doesn’t think of himself as a choreographer or dancer but a visual artist, appropriates the brute-force strategies of the entertainment industry, uncovering the mechanisms that are at work beneath the mirrored surface.

On Thursday, 13th July, the O-Töne will start for the twentieth time at the MuseumsQuartier Wien. The festival opens with Birgit Birnbacher and her new book "Wovon wir leben". Cornelia Hülmbauer makes her debut with "oft manchmal nie". To celebrate, there will be a concert with Anna Mabo and die Buben.

Anton Ovchinnikov, co-founder of the Contemporary Dance Platform Ukraine, was forced to leave Kiev on 24 February 2022 and found himself isolated in the village of Morozivka, 50 km away. When his body reawakened from its rigidity, he made this dance film to, as he says, "bring the in-betweens back to life".

Brightly shining above Akemi Takeya’s artistic world is the lemon. Under the title "Lemonism", the artist has developed a series of works in this light since 2015. Here, with her new solo performed in Adam Pendleton’s exhibition "Blackness, White, and Light", she transfers the Dadaism of the 1910s and 1920s as anti-bourgeois anti-war counterart into the 21st century.
