Kunsthalle Wien is the City of Vienna’s primary institution for contemporary art. At its locations in the Museumsquartier and on Karlsplatz, Kunsthalle Wien present an annual programme of exhibitions and produce public and educational programming that seek to engage diverse publics.

Kunsthalle Wien provides a platform for artists, commissioning new works and partnering with individuals and institutions, both local and international, to develop exhibitions and publications based on original research. Kunsthalle Wien is committed to providing an inclusive space for exchange and debate and furthering the discourse on contemporary art in all its forms.

Lebt und arbeitet in Wien
1.5. – 26.10.2026

The most extensive survey of the Viennese contemporary art scene organised by Kunsthalle Wien in over a decade brings together over 130 artworks by 56 artists who live and work in Vienna. Across all of its spaces in the MuseumsQuartier and Karlsplatz the exhibition presents painting, sculpture, installation, drawing, photography, performance, sound, film and video.

Kunsthalle Wien Atelier

Kunsthalle Wien‘s Atelier is a space for dialogue, creativity and exchange. Workshops for children and families take place at the Atelier every Saturday and during the school holidays. Workshops with various artists are held regularly for adults. The Atelier provides a space for working with a wide range of educational institutions, community organisations and initiatives with whom the Kunsthalle works all year round to deliver special programmes.
