About the MQ

With 114,310 square meters of space, 61 cultural institutions and over five million visitors annually, the MuseumsQuartier Wien is one of the world’s largest arts and culture complexes. Characterized by diversity and cosmopolitanism, the MQ has a strong international presence. It is a place where people can come together, linger, and experience culture in all its facets.

For Viennese residents, it is a cultural institution; for tourists, it offers a unique experience. The combination of major museums, exhibition and event venues, dining options, and artistic installations in public spaces creates a one-of-a-kind ensemble. All of this unfolds in an environment where contemporary architecture meets historic buildings.

“In an unusual blend of old and new, the elegant 18th-century Habsburg riding stables here are being combined with a series of sleek 21st-century buildings to create one of the world's largest cultural complexes.”

The grounds are open 24 hours a day with free admission. The colorful MQ seating units, known as “Enzis,” are true icons and serve a variety of purposes. The MQ Main Courtyard is the largest inner courtyard in Vienna. In the summer, the MQ Summer Stage program runs until late in the evening, and during “Winter at the MQ,” punch and an ice-stocking rink are available to help ward off the cold.
