The MQ by the Numbers
With 114,310 square meters and 61 cultural institutions, the MuseumsQuartier Wien is Europe’s largest arts and culture complex. Every year, around 5 million people visit the complex—77% from Austria and 23% from abroad.
1,250 streetlights, 46 stairwells, 28 elevators, 120 bike racks, and 10 entrances keep the area running smoothly and make it accessible to everyone.
Of the 61 institutions in the MuseumsQuartier, 9 are permanent art and cultural institutions: the mumok (Museum of Modern Art Ludwig Foundation Vienna), the Leopold Museum, the Kunsthalle Wien, the Architekturzentrum Wien, the Tanzquartier Wien, the Dschungel Wien – Theaterhaus für junges Publikum, the ZOOM Kindermuseum, the WIENXTRA-Kinderinfo, and the Halle E+G.
In addition, the complex houses 44 medium-sized and small art and cultural institutions, as well as eight artist-in-residence studios (AiR Studios), which help shape the MQ as a vibrant hub for the creation and presentation of contemporary art and culture.
