Kunsthalle Wien is the City of Vienna’s primary institution for contemporary art. At its locations in the Museumsquartier and on Karlsplatz, Kunsthalle Wien present an annual programme of exhibitions and produce public and educational programming that seek to engage diverse publics.

Kunsthalle Wien provides a platform for artists, commissioning new works and partnering with individuals and institutions, both local and international, to develop exhibitions and publications based on original research. Kunsthalle Wien is committed to providing an inclusive space for exchange and debate and furthering the discourse on contemporary art in all its forms.

Ramesch Daha: Wien 1933 – 1935

Kunsthalle Wien’s Vitrine hosts an annual commission for a public artwork that can be visited at all times, day or night. With her work “Wien 1933 – 1935” (2026), Ramesch Daha transforms this space into a 62 metre lightbox and explores the history of Vienna’s “Februarkämpfe” [February Uprisings] of 1934.

Tiffany Sia: Overt Listening

Tiffany Sia examines how histories are constructed, circulated and remembered. A new film, shot on the Kinmen Islands in Taiwan – just a few kilometres off the Chinese coast – is the starting point for an exhibition that explores how the legacies of the Cold War continue to influence everyday life. In Sia’s spatial installation, cameras, broadcast technologies and infrastructures of surveillance are approached as not merely a means of documenting the world, but as systems that shape perception, movement and power.

Magali Reus: Tenant

The work of Magali Reus consists in keen observation of the vernacular, the wildly absurd details of everyday life. Vessels such as jam jars, sardine tins, washing detergent packaging and pizza boxes are the subjects of sculptural investigations in which forms are translated, altered and remade in series. This exhibition presents works from the last 12 years with a series of new sculptures that take inspiration from Vienna’s architecture and confectionery.

Kunsthalle Wien Atelier

Kunsthalle Wien‘s Atelier is a space for dialogue, creativity and exchange. Workshops for children and families take place at the Atelier every Saturday and during the school holidays. Workshops with various artists are held regularly for adults. The Atelier provides a space for working with a wide range of educational institutions, community organisations and initiatives with whom the Kunsthalle works all year round to deliver special programmes.

The Kunsthalle Wien Shop offers artist editions, publications, posters and merchandise relating to current exhibitions.
