With this long-overdue, large-scale exhibition, the Leopold Museum intends to shed new light on the eminent and ground-breaking oeuvre of Max Oppenheimer, which has unjustly fallen into oblivion, and to explore the wealth of his works’ motifs. Furthermore, the presentation looks at the role of the artist and his networks through his contemporaries Oskar Kokoschka and Egon Schiele.

Gabriele Münter: Retrospective

Gabriele Münter (1877–1962) was much more than just "the woman by Kandinsky’s side". Around 140 exhibits from public and private international collections – including oil paintings, printed graphic works, drawings, photographs and artisanal objects – afford profound insights into the artist’s multi-faceted oeuvre.

OMV and the Leopold Museum are celebrating Leopoldi Day on Wednesday, 15 November 2023, with a colourful family programme. Guided tours through the current exhibitions on the avantgarde of modernism - Vienna 1900, Max Oppenheimer, Gabriele Münter -, the popular LEO children's workshop and cool AI workshops for young people will be open from 10-21h with free admission.
