Mark Barden / Ligia Lewis: "Limina / Sensation 1"

Mark Barden / Ligia Lewis: "Limina / Sensation 1"

"Limina" (plural of "limen": a threshold in which a stimulus can be said to trigger a psychological or physiological response) attempts to slow down the perception of time through an immersive, hypnotic sensory environment that attunes the audience to listen deeply into the substructures of sonic phenomena.

Festival: "TOGETHER THE PARTS"

Festival: "TOGETHER THE PARTS"

Over two weekends, TQW Halle G will serve as a place of gathering: a gathering of artistic, performative and bodily practices. You can come and go as you wish. The publication of a daily programme will also be an invitation to participate. "TOGETHER THE PARTS" is an artistic and performative gathering of diverse formats, which will unfold simultaneously and consecutively. "The Listening Circle", "Circle Dance" and "Sensorial Tent" will be of a circular nature, while the "Procession" and "Tour" will traverse the space of Halle G as part of "moving practices".

Paula Caspão: "In Terms of (Un)Freedom"

Paula Caspão: "In Terms of (Un)Freedom"

"In Terms of (Un)Freedom" is a three-day Lab to rehearse forms of diverging together. It will be about how to embrace rough, fuzzy, and bumpy intersections between the choreographic, the cinematographic, the archival, the digital and the decolonial in a quest to re-imagine forms of complicated (often understated) collective freedom, away from frantic productivity-performance-oriented demands.

Felicia McCarren: "Planting Dance"

Felicia McCarren: "Planting Dance"

This historical commentary on nature and bodies onstage was also, in its time, a theoretical inquiry about nature and bodies across cultural institutions and knowledge disciplines. The recent plant turn in the humanities has focused on the politics and theories of plant-based human life, but it is also a re-turn to historical plant-thinking. What are lessons still to be learned from plants, or more broadly, from current ecologies? What importance do an “ecology of practices” (Isabelle Stengers) or the “landscaping of time” (Bernadette Bensaude-Vincent) have for dancers and choreography?

Elizabeth Ward: "Hedera helix"

Elizabeth Ward: "Hedera helix"

"Hedera helix" braids together fictive fantasies of past dances, imagined unrealised potential allies hidden in the theatre and is engrossed with the (im)possibility of becoming invisible and reappearing elsewhere. Influences as variegated as the shared principles shaping Baroque garden design and European court dance, the Grotesque ballets of Vienna in the 1700s, 1960s Post-Modern dance, and reruns of the 1980s tv show "Fame" interlace and inform each other.
