With her first major presentation in Vienna, Wild’s story will come full circle. At the heart of the conceived exhibition is her artistic development, which reads like a ride through twentieth- and twenty-first-century art history.

In 2023, mumok will present New York artist Adam Pendleton’s first comprehensive solo exhibition in Europe. Pendleton’s painting is a continuous index in which gestures are recorded, transposed, and overwritten.

The exhibition ON STAGE explores the various theatrical and stage-related forms of expression in art since the 1960s, when a neo-avant-garde critical of tradition began focusing on performative and actionist art forms that endowed artists with a stage-like presence, often in front of an audience.

On the occasion of the exhibition "ON STAGE - All the Art World’s a Stage", a panel of experts will discuss the interactions between theatre and visual arts.

In joint discussions, the artists present their working methods in the context of the artistic techniques of collage and assemblage and we draw a connection to the work of Elisabeth Wild.

The art education studio at mumok is a place for creative exchange in a relaxed atmosphere. One Friday a month, with free admission, we invite interested people of all origins and languages, with and without a migration background, to work in a practical artistic way and thereby get to know different perspectives and opinions and broaden horizons.

MATHILDA is a group of former children who grew up in this system and today, contrary to the prevailing reception, draw attention to the context of production and the presence of violence in Muehl's art. For the exhibition "ON STAGE - All the Art World’s a Stage", the group was invited for the first time to contextualise a work by Otto Muehl for the mumok.
