With its newly conceived presentation of the collection, the Leopold Museum is creating an opulent tableau which affords uniquely rich and complex insights into the fascination of Vienna around 1900 and the atmosphere of this vibrant time.

The Leopold Museum presents the first comprehensive exhibition in Austria of highlights from the Würth Collection. The Würth Collection is among the largest private collections in Europe and one of the most eminent compilations of artworks worldwide.

Artists of the turn of the century such as Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele proved to be seismographs of their time and - between suffocating conservatism and cultural awakening - became harbingers of a new social self-image. With their depictions of explicit nudity and other taboo subjects, they broke the corset of conventions and paved the way for a new era.

Figures, simple heads and many other beings have been created by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Max Ernst, Hans Arp, Tony Cragg, Christo or Alfred Hrdlicka.

After all, even a sustained rise in temperature of just a few degrees can drastically worsen our quality of life. Under the motto of the warning campaign "A few degrees more", the Leopold Museum, in cooperation with the Climate Change Centre Austria (CCCA) - one of the leading authorities in the field of climate research in Austria - illustrates the sometimes catastrophic effects of just a few degrees more temperature on the environment.
