How We Do Storytelling For/From Communities
Tue 22.07., 19h | MQ Summer Stage, Main Courtyard
Free entry | language: English
How can we tell stories that don’t usually get told in the Austrian art world? How can artists, cultural workers, and institutions center the voices of BIPoC, queer, decolonial, and other marginalized communities—not just as subjects, but as storytellers and meaning-makers?
Join us for a panel conversation exploring how eSeLschwarm, a platform for collaborative cultural commentary, is working to shift who gets seen, heard, and remembered in Vienna’s art and culture scene. Together with those actively making this a reality in Vienna, we’ll unpack strategies for creating space in institutions and public discourse for more complex, diverse, and community-rooted narratives.
This event takes place in the context of our current exhibition From Post to Practice: Storytelling Through eSeLschwarm, on view until 18.08.2025 at eSeL Rezeption, MQ Showrooms.
Panelists include:
- Nicole Fölß – Cultural worker and art mediator at Kunstraum Niederösterreich
- Zhameli Khairli – Cultural worker
- Dinara Turagulova – eSeLschwarm contributor
- Tayla Myree – Artist, cultural worker, and eSeLschwarm coordinator
This discussion invites anyone passionate about culture—whether you're an artist, curator, student, or just curious—to imagine new approaches to storytelling and visibility in Vienna and beyond.
Stick around after the panel for a casual networking session to meet eSeLschwarm collaborators and connect with others working at the intersections of art and community.
