Fulbright Austria: Full of bright minds.

Fulbright Austria. Full of bright minds.

Q21 Backstage: In March we present Fulbright Austria and talked to Hermann Agis about his work. For 70 years the Fulbright Program has provided grants for Austrian graduates or scholars to study, teach, or pursue research in the US and for US citizens to engage in similar activities in Austria.

The aim of the Fulbright Program is to promote ‘mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the peoples of other countries’. For 70 years the Fulbright Program has provided grants for Austrian graduates or scholars to study, teach, or pursue research in the US and for US citizens to engage in similar activities in Austria. As part of EducationUSA, they also offer advice on studying in the USA.

Interview with Hermann Agis

Who/what are you?

I am a father, a mentor and a biotechnologist. For half a year now, I have been serving Fulbright Austria as executive director.

What are your fields of activity?

It is my responsibility to open new opportunities. Fulbright Austria changes people by sending Austrians to the USA and sending US citizens to Austria.

How do you reach your goals?

With dedication and a motivated team.

What challenges do you face?

It is a great challenge and an honour to provide a new generation of Fulbright students and scholars with the same opportunities that have opened doors for thousands of people for the last 70 years.

What is important to you?

It is important for me to open doors for students, researchers, artists and teachers. This is how we create opportunities for cultural and scientific exchange between Austria and the US.

How big is your Team?

Our team counts eight dedicated members.

Since when have you been at Q21?

Fulbright Austria has been at Q21 since 2007. I joined in 2019. It’s a wonderful place to work.

A perfect work day starts with…

……a new challenge.
