"Falling Clouds" is a massive installation with an enchanting lightness by Eva Schlegel, for which the artist confines a very large number of giant balloons to the glass box in the MuseumsQuartier courtyard. The attempt to bring the expanse of the sky down to the ground, to capture the fleeting, is inherent to her work. The ephemeral is conveyed in a physical manifestation, creating a sensual aesthetic experience.

The façade is painted to prevent the balloons from being seen in their entirety by prying eyes, in a space that cannot be entered. The viewer remains at a safe distance, the disarming and soothing liberation from the perpetual compulsion to find a view allows meditative reflection, and also provides a momentary escape from the structures of everyday reality.
