Date: Nov 11 to Jan 29 2012
Venue:
KUNSTHALLE wien, halle 2

Today’s fashion photograph, set up like a scene from a stage production, has evolved into a projection of an artificial wishful reality. The images presented here record a changing mentality, which perceives clothes as part of a mise-en-scène that takes place only in the world of photography. Everything revolves around dream concepts and ideals of a changing body aesthetic caught in mid-flight. The not infrequently utopian-looking dresses seen here are captured in photographs by the strategies of fashion photography, but they are the main players within stories that have little to do with any visualisation of wearable or functional fashion items. With a. o. Jeff Bark, Leigh Bowery, Izima Kaoru, Luigi & Luca, Alex Prager and Sophia Wallace.

Curator: Peter Weiermair

Guided tours:
every Sun, 16:00
