Antonia Baehr (D)
For Faces

Date: Fri, Feb 18, Sat, Feb 19, 20:30
Venue: TQW/Halle G
Austrian première

For Faces centres on the face as a medium of communication and expression. The faces of the four performers become the venue of a microchoreography. The audience, sitting around them as in an amphitheatre, can observe every little movement: the lowering of the gaze, the winking of an eye, a furrowing of a brow, the turning up of a nose, the trace of a smile, or an open mouth. Throughout the length of the work, the faces in this detail study change into landscapes, freely after Gertrude Stein, static and simultaneously moving formations in which each element is connected to the other. The choreographer Antonia Baehr turns her attention to the fictive potential that is latent both in everyday life as well as in the theatre. In doing so she makes the reception behaviour of the spectators a subject - and also turns For Faces into a work about watching.
