Mit Konsequenz hat Jan van der Ploeg in den letzen Jahren den Raum zwischen Kunst und Leben erforscht. Für seine Wandarbeiten im Innen- und Außenraum verwendet er eine reduzierte aber kraftvolle Farbpalette. Monochromie, Repetition, Variation sowie ein antiillusionistischer Tiefenraum sind für ihn dabei entscheidende Gestaltungsmittel, die er industriellen Herstellungsmethoden entliehen hat.
In ihrem Zusammenwirken fügen sie sich in den Alltag ein, haben eine Funktion als Zeichen, Ornament oder als malerische Illusion.
Dreidimensionalität verflacht sich zu einer schwungvoll-eleganten Ausgestaltung der Gegenwart, wie sie bereits in den 60er Jahren von dem amerikanischen Maler Paul Feeley zelebriert wurde. (Friederike Nymphius)

Der holländische Künstler Jan van der Ploeg ist derzeit "artist-in-residence" des quartier21 und des Grazer Kunstverein Medienturm.

Over the last few years Jan van der Ploeg has consistently researched the space between art and life. In his wall paintings, for both indoor and outdoor spaces, he uses a limited but robust palette. Van der Ploeg sees monochrome, repetition, variation and anti-illusionist depth as different manifestations, which he has appropriated from an industrial visual vocabulary.
They insert themselves collectively into everyday reality and function as sign, ornament or painterly illusion. Three-dimensionality becomes flattened to a fluid, elegant image of the present, as celebrated in the 1960s by the American painter Paul Feeley. (Friederike Nymphius, translated by Annabel
