"Americans", benannt nach dem legendären Fotobuch von Robert Frank, berichtet in 13 Bildstrecken amerikanischer Fotografen über die Aufbrüche, Krisen und Veränderungen der US-Gesellschaft seit den 1940er Jahren.

Den Fotografien haftet nichts von der Ideologie einer „Family of Man“ an, ihr diagnostischer Blick legt vielmehr die Wunden dieser Gesellschaft offen. Zu einem Zeitpunkt, wo die USA und ihr moralisches Hegemoniebestreben ins Kreuzfeuer der Kritik geraten, liefert diese Ausstellung einen aktuellen Beitrag zur Diskussion.
