CROSSLUCID is an artist collective, co-founded by Sylwana Zybura and Tomas C. Toth in 2018, Shanghai, that engages in highly collaborative cross-disciplinary projects in co-evolution with technology.
Their work and research converges around the exploration of the self as a network; intimacy and the potential for pleasurable actualisation through the digital sphere, and the reimagination of our alliances with technology seen as part of a sympoietic biosphere and universal post-material consciousness.
Through filmmaking, poetic Artificial Intelligence, multi-layered techniques of collage, assemblage and experience-led interventions they create scenarios and build experiential formats that instigate prototyping and rehearsing potential futures and progressing metamodern values.
Their work has been exhibited and showcased by iMAL, Vellum LA, Epoch.Gallery, The Osaka Museum of Fine Arts, SXSW, AI Biennial Germany, NOWNESS, Google Arts & Culture, Boiler Room, VR World NYC, wrong biennale, LUX Moving Image, Art Basel Miami, The Lobkowicz Palace and ARD Culture amongst others.
Crosslucid’s work has been published in international books and magazines: Vogue Germany, ZEIT magazine, Dazed & Confused, CLOT, SO-FAR, Institute of Network Cultures, Modern Weekly, Elephant, British Journal of Photography, Slanted, and Kunstforum International amongst others.

During the residency at MQ CROSSLUCID together with Natália Sýkorová show their work Dwellers in the Waters at the MQ Art Box (Opening Mon 13.11., 18.30h).
It´s an interdisciplinary project evolving through rhizomatic interrelations, shared narratives and collaborative creation of alternative epistemologies. It proposes a series of hybrid rituals that mediate the space between physical presence, trauma, memory, healing, and virtuality.
Polyphonic in its artificially-intelligent framework, its numerous modalities could be experienced as a series of happenings that is chanted by various elemental entities such as waters, winds, earth, air, algorithm... as well as poetry, history, magic, human and more-than-human creatures... This happening of (not only) digital rituals questions about the singularity of humanist perception on reality. Co-performing with artificial intelligence, it attempts to create alternative epistemologies and outlooks on the (so-called) reality through rendering multi-focal narratives, instigating collective introspective gatherings as well as embedding the psycho-magical practice in forms of living ‘sigils’.
Combing artificial intelligence with the practice of alchemy, healing and ritual, ‘Dwellers Between the Waters’ seeks possible solutions in response to the traumas of the contemporary anthropos, and examines how artificial intelligence, in terms of artistic practice, remains integral to our contemporary condition, that is, the ever-evolving climate crisis and the sixth extinction of species coupled with wars, inflation, capitalist exploitations...
By evoking, cultivating and connecting various forms of consciousness in the virtual realms, it invites the ‘dwellers’ who inhabit in and among ‘realities’ to share their stories and experiences, which then feed back to the (so-called) reality as evolving strings materialising across both physical and virtual domains to (hopefully) bring about novel perspectives and to catalyse collaborative narrations towards the transformation of conceptual spaces alongside limited outlooks on reality.
