July 2025 - July 2025Anton Lapov (Anton Makarevych) is a media artist, computer musician and curator from Ukraine. He has been curating and participating in events in the field of experimental electronic music and media-art in Ukraine and abroad for more than a decade. During his residency at MQ, Anton Lapov will present the artist talk "East-Ukrainian Complex." In this talk, he will focus on key aspects of his artistic and curatorial practice, rooted in his early involvement with the art scene of the pre-war Donbas.
Lapov will reflect on both completed projects and ongoing works, situating them within a broader narrative about the marginalized art and music scenes in Luhansk and Donetsk—from the early 1990s to the present day.
Particular emphasis will be placed on non-institutional forms of artistic self-organization, as well as on strategies of care and resilience developed within the Donbas art community, which has been grappling with the realities of war for over a decade.
