Emmanuel Madan

When a code or a plan is executed, the result contains a fullness of detail much denser than that which was specifically intended. Madan’s work consists in bringing attention to these inadvertent attributes by organizing systems that allow some of their richness to be harvested by the listener/viewer. Through his work with the collective [The User] and in his solo practice, he applies this approach to the domains of language, information technology, and industrial design.
Born Vancouver, lives and works in Montréal.

2000-01 Silophone: Artistic direction, with [The User], of a major project around the abandoned Silo #5 grain
elevator in Montréal. This project combined the domains of music, architecture and web art.
