Random Bangle AKA Edinburgh born, Russell Barratt is an accessories and prop designer specialising in performance garments. His unique approach to textile creation and traditional crafts encapsulates a range of influences within his work including the 80’s era, Egypt, club culture, knotting and recycling. His work has included commissioned pieces for design collective, Maiden Britain, which was showcased at London Fashion Week as well as for Eska Mtungwazi as part of The Matthew Herbert Big Band. Aside from private commissions which have been featured in publications including; Notion, Random Magazine and Dazed Digital, his bold pieces are stocked at Soho boutique, Machine-A.
I have been involved with the Fish and Chips, Twice Please?! Project over the previous months in which as well as working alongside the team in the development and the build of the exhibition I also created a commissioned piece to be presented in the gallery. As a contributor I plan to further extend my part within the team by offering further support in terms of involvement and assistance as part of the accompanying programme and surrounding work.
