Documentation

I was invited to the artist-in-residence program of quartier21/MQVienna during one month, September 2007 as an assistant to Mariela Gemisheva. I was working mostly on presentation of Mariela Gemisheva’s work as well as on the organization of her future exhibition in q21. During my stay in Vienna I had chance to learn a lot about the artistic scene and also to get impression from the way fashion takes part in it. I was meeting artists and curators and had the opportunity to visit a lot of exhibitions and institutions in Vienna, Linz and Graz.

I also had chance to collect papers and articles from the libraries of MUMOK, the Art Academy and the University in Vienna in order to get more information about the contemporary theoretical approach in fashion and performance. It helped me to improve my work in framing and justifying theoretically the cross-border between fashion défilé and art performance, which is one of the main topics of Mariela Gemisheva’s work.

Hospitality of Jasmin Ladenhaufen (boutique gegenalltag) and the kind support of the stuff of quartier21 made my stay in Vienna very pleasant and fruitful.
