This Season's Celebrated Films

The program, diverse in its narrative strategies, demonstrates the strong presence of films by women at international animation festivals. A critical engagement with the world is a common thread among many of them. The car that came back from the sea is based on the experiences of young people in Poland shortly before the fall of the Eastern Bloc, Percebes documents the consequences of mass tourism, and Joko addresses the exploitation of humans, shifting—similar to On Hold and Society of clothes—into the absurd and surreal. Music takes center stage in the experimental films Freeride in C and Where Red Meets Blue. (tr)
