A rooftile dreams of being side by side with a like-minded being. It knows only of the roof and the rows that it’s part of. And the fish? The fish loves water - nothing more and nothing less.
The rooftile exists well above us and catches newly fallen rain from which we try to keep ourselves protected. The fish however is constantly reliant on currents of water, perhaps once diverted by the tiles on roofs, and flourishes with each drop of fresh water which flows in. But in order to bring them together, must we only discover what keeps them apart? What would happen if both were able to find each other? Should the fish make its way through drains and gutters up towards the roof? Or should the tile break away from its inherent order and find its way to water? Both seem impossible, yet they still dream from one another: The tile from the unexpected fish, the fish from the beautiful roof. This tension is exactly what Kaleb Christian, Timo-Luca Pfeifer, Flora Schmid and Nino Sinzinger use in order to reimagine different materials, structures and narratives.
