A suitcase in Belfast reveals secrets from Vienna
After the death of an old man named Leo Edelmann in Belfast, his daughter and granddaughter set about clearing out the house. While decluttering, they discover a suitcase neither of them has ever seen. It is labeled Galina Stein and has an address in Vienna, Leopoldstadt. When they open the suitcase, they discover a multitude of letters whose contents send them on a journey into the past that sheds new, sometimes painful light on the dark corners of their family history. Following the premiere in Belfast in 2015, the long-awaited Austrian premiere is now taking place in Vienna, in a bilingual version with surtitles.
