MQ Artist-in-Residence Hilke Rönnfeldt: Landsickness
Mon 23.06., 18h, MQ Raum D | free entry
During her residency at the MuseumsQuartier, filmmaker Hilke Rönnfeldt explores the effects of environmental changes on human relationships and presents her experimental short fiction film FENCE (11 min, 2019). It deals with the consequences of a swine flu outbreak on a romantic relationship in a rural border area between Denmark and Germany. A fence is built there to separate domestic pigs from wild boars and prevent the spread of swine fever. "The shots of the contrasting worlds of the animals are astonishing in their precision and visual power. Unconventionally dissolved and coherent as a whole, the image design in the film still leaves us room for our imagination. We are allowed to concentrate on what is unspoken between people and on everything that lies behind the words or in the reflection of the mirror" (Jury statement, National Competition for Women Image Creators)
Afterwards, MQ Artist-in-Residence Hilke Rönnfeldt will share thoughts and methods about her current project LANDSICKNESS, which deals with the meandering of humanity between transformation and resilience in the face of the (climate) crisis.
The event is organized in cooperation with VIENNA SHORTS.
