Susanne Kennedy, Markus Selg: ANGELA (A STRANGE LOOP)
• Days with event
Angela is getting along with her everyday life – until an unspecified illness strikes that alters her view of the world. Or are these mutations occurring not just within her, but in her surroundings as a whole? Director Susanne Kennedy’s new production reflects on the pandemic situation in general and the vulnerability of the female body in particular. Constraint, isolation, unequal treatment – what does it mean to be alive? Alongside Angela’s character, the stage area designed by visual artist Markus Selg appears as a second, virtual protagonist. The private room becomes an echo chamber, with Angela’s symptoms manifesting themselves in the projections within the space.
After "Einstein on the Beach", Kennedy and Selg continue their search for alternative forms of togetherness. In "ANGELA", the voices and gestures of the five performers coexist alongside the movements of virtual entities. In this theatrical language, ritual and community are essential.
