Public Moves: Finding Freedom... Where?
with Philipp Bellos
Sun 27.07., 17.00h l MQ Forecourt l Free entry
Freedom in relation to movement – to be free from and for something. How can we create a sense of freedom for ourselves? As someone with significant visual impairment, Philipp is deeply familiar with limitations and how to navigate them. These limitations and boundaries are often ones we try to overcome through more effort and practice. In the Feldenkrais Method, we aim to discover alternative pathways beyond our habitual patterns by paying attention to movement. Through an increased awareness of our own bodies, new possibilities for doing, acting, and ultimately thinking unfold. In this Feldenkrais session, there is space to get to know your body in a new way, explore boundaries and their expansion, in order to gain a sense of greater individual freedom and approach the world with this newfound feeling.
Public Moves dance classes take place outdoors every day – international and local instructors share their knowledge of everything from jazz and Bollywood dance to waacking in free outdoor classes. No previous experience is necessary, and all ages and levels are welcome!
Registration begins one day before the course starts at 11:00 a.m. via the calendar or by telephone on +43.1.523 55 58-19. If a class is ‘fully booked’, there is still the possibility of securing a remaining place on site. It's worth dropping by!
Biography
After finishing school and beginning medical studies, Philipp Bellos was diagnosed at the age of 23 with a progressive eye condition. This marked a turning point and led to a fundamental reorientation in his life. Training in various massage techniques and, ultimately, his encounter with the Feldenkrais Method enabled Philipp to pursue his interests and turn them into his profession. He experiences human connection — and what moves people physically, mentally, and emotionally — as a fascinating source of learning and teaching.
As an internationally certified Feldenkrais Practitioner, Philipp works in Vienna, where he leads group classes and offers one-to-one sessions in Functional Integration. A wide range of advanced trainings within the Feldenkrais Method, along with his broad interest in all forms of movement, form the foundation of his enduring enthusiasm and lively curiosity for the new.
