Following thepresentation of Hans Kupelwieser's new sculpture in the MQ Main Courtyard, Danish artist Christian Falsnaes (*1980 in Copenhagen/Denmark) will kick off the MQ Summer Stage with his performance ‘Collaboration’.
In the inner courtyard of the MuseumsQuartier, Falsnaes will dissolve the boundaries between artist and audience with a unique performance. In his characteristic approach, he actively involves the audience present as well as unsuspecting visitors and passers-by in the action. Through clear instructions, he creates moments of spontaneous interaction and makes the reactions of the participants a central component of his work. The performance invites us to reflect on individual and collective patterns of behavior and to question our own role in the dynamics of control and participation.
Collaboration is a fundamental prerequisite for a functioning society. It enables the exchange of ideas, the overcoming of boundaries and the development of new perspectives. In a time that is often characterized by individualism and competition, collaboration creates a space for community and mutual support. Falsnaes' performance illustrates how collective action can change not only art, but also social structures. By actively involving his audience, he makes it possible to experience how important participation and interaction are for social interaction.
Falsnaes, who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, is known for his participatory works that actively involve the audience and create collective experiences. His works question social dynamics and the role of the individual within the group. He has received several awards for his innovative approaches to performance art.
Starting at 20h, DJ Terror will set the mood on the Summer Stage with driving techno beats - the perfect sound to round out the opening day.
Influenced by acid, jungle and trance, DJ Terror's selection captures a wide spectrum of techno that goes far beyond minimal. Her sets are uncompromisingly dedicated to the audience and she is not afraid to enter a universe of pop-cultural or political references.
With more than a decade of experience playing dancefloors across Europe and teasing the danceable out of experimental and electronic music, her fast-paced sets avoid boring intros and prioritize the moment over the conceptual. A joyful guarantee to put a smile on the faces of ravers with different techno socializations.
DJ Terror is an active advocate for gender equality and diversity in club culture. She is co-curator of the "DISHES" series, which invites artists from different musical and compositional backgrounds. She is associated with the Vienna-based collective BLISS and Hyperreality - Festival for Club Culture.
