Finally out of the dusty corners of Viennese song: VERETER brings an urgent change to the city with his stories from a queer-migrant perspective. As a second-generation Viennese child, the singer-songwriter was confronted with stereotypical hostility at a very early age. The result is stories about penguins and toast sandwiches, fire salamanders and Topfeng'sichter, songs about holding hands in times of racism. The poetic songs develop a powerful pull and create a feeling of self-empowerment despite their heaviness. It is catchy music that was created out of the necessity that being a stranger does not only mean pain, but also the possibility of rebellion and solidarity. Even a spark of hope and humor always resonates somewhere in VERETER's music - and it's hard to let go.
VERETER is the acoustic alter ego of Viennese musician Pete Prison IV. The songs were recorded both solo and with his backing band Die Woarmen Semmeln. The debut album “Ihr Seit Alle” was released on March 21, 2025 on the queerfeminist Viennese label unrecords on vinyl in limited edition!
