Lecture & Discussion: Rethinking and Transforming Existing Structures. Renewed Demands for the Promotion of Public Welfare

Thu 04.12., 18h, Podium

The 11th Forum on Architectural Science is dedicated to the highly topical issue of transforming existing structures, and opens with a keynote speech and panel discussion at the Az W.

Which new demands need to be formulated in the context of transformation in order to negotiate aspects of social, ecological and aesthetic public welfare? What new advocacy is needed for this? Where should this process begin in concrete terms? Historical, current and future alternative spaces, scenarios and processes are (re)examined and discussed critically during the symposium.

Keynote: Ana Miljački, MIT

Discussion: Anamarija Batista, Akbild Wien; Waltraud P. Indrist, Akbild Wien; Klara Jörg & Julian Raffetseder, Future Problems Architecture Studio; Georg Kaser, Universität Innsbruck; Thomas Madreiter, City of Vienna Director of Planning; Rudolf Scheuvens, TU Wien (tbc); Sigrid Stagl, WU Wien

Conzept and Organisation: Anamarija Batista, Waltraud P. Indrist

The symposium continues on Fri 05.12 at the TU Wien (Vienna University of Technology), and Sat 06.12 at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien (Akbild Wien — Academy of Fine Arts Vienna).
