In the video "The Great Brine" the artist has attached a single sliced pickle to a wooden skewer which is inserted into an electric drill. The drill makes the pickle rotate very slowly on top of the artist's bald head, almost as if his scalp is being licked by the vegetable. The artist's face remains stoic throughout the video.
Jan Hakon Erichsen works with performance for video, which he shares daily across his social media. In Erichsen’s videos he explores the things we surround ourselves with, often through destroying everyday objects in excessive ways or using them in an unorthodox manner. His performance works are usually sculpturally based, with crude destruction machines as a reoccurring theme. Erichsen makes everything from very simple devices to complex contraptions that are all designed to destroy everyday objects of low monetary value. The last six years Erichsen has been working with the internet as his main arena to showcase his work and in that time Erichsen has become one of the performance artists who reaches the most people this way, with a large following and millions of video views.
