Guided Tour in Farsi: Chalisée Naamani: "Octogone"
Sat 14.03., 14h
The first solo exhibition outside France by Chalisée Naamani (b. 1995, Paris) is titled "Octogone" and includes a series of new commissions alongside recent sculpture, print and textile works. Naamani describes her sculpture as ‘image-garments’, produced via a process of layering and collaging images, fabrics and text from diverse sources. While her objects often resemble items of clothing or refer to the history of fashion, they are never intended to be worn. Rather, they invite us to reflect upon the political dimension of attire and how questions of form, function and aesthetics are bound to power and cultural meaning, incorporating ornamental traditions, iconographies, pop culture, personal photographs and archival material.
Nargol Gharahshir invites the Farsi- and Dari-speaking community in Vienna to join a guided tour of Chalisée Naamani’s exhibition "Octogone". The event will be held in Farsi and is open to anyone interested in contemporary art, politics, fashion history and cultural crossovers.
The guided tour is free with a valid exhibition ticket.
