The first solo exhibition in Austria by Guan Xiao (b. 1983, Chongqing, China) comprises an entirely new body of work in sculpture and painting. "Teenager" returns to fundamental subjects such as food, clothing and shelter to address questions of progress and civilisation, tradition and spirituality that are central to the multi-faceted, playful and poetic work of Guan Xiao.
The guided tour by Li Yizhuo invites Vienna’s Chinese-speaking community, from families with Chinese roots to students and professionals, to reflect on the theme of change in personal and cultural history through Guan Xiao’s exhibition. The event also welcomes anyone with knowledge of (or curiosity about) Chinese language and culture, to explore how contemporary art engages tradition, identity and society.
The guided tour is free with a valid exhibition ticket.
