Like every genre of cinema, the western genre has its own unique features: the endless prairie, filmed in the USA, in the former Yugoslavia or in the Puszta between Austria and Hungary, horses, saddles, decorated boots, Stetson hats, sheriff's stars, lots of guns, saloons, poker rounds, covered wagons, Native Americans, who are often portrayed by white people, speak fantasy languages and like to scalp their enemies, and much more. The most important feature is the shoot-out at the end of the movie, the duel. It mercilessly implies that every conflict can only be resolved through violence and that there can only be one winner. The Anti-Western short film program plays creatively with these Western features, deconstructs them, reassembles them without omitting them.
