Frieda is supposed to write an essay about the Danube, but suddenly falls into the river, dives through the underwater city and triggers a conflict between the Danube mermaid and the microorganisms.
When the dispute threatens the harmony of the underwater world, Frieda's imagination is called upon! Will she succeed in inventing a new Danube mythology and uniting the smallest and largest creatures of the Danube city with a story?
"DONAUSTADT" traces the mythological places around Vienna and populates the Danube region with new characters. In the process, the world of Danube myths intertwines with the playful exploration of microbiological processes. Language and object theatre, drama and music combine to form an interdisciplinary approach and a story about mythology and the spirit of research.
