Cowboys is about cowboys: the strays of the prairie, the adventurers of the Wild West, the epitome of coolness. A cowboy's best friend is his horse.

Fascinated by the dream team of Lucky Luke and Jolly Jumper, four actors explore the romantic image of the lonely fighter, the "poor lonesome cowboy," and ask themselves: Does a cowboy really only need his horse and a few cans of beans? What if the can opener breaks? Who will help you when things get dicey in the vastness of the prairie? And: were cowboys always men?

The actors take on the rough physicality of cowboys. They spread out across the stage, negotiate boundaries, practise leaning coolly, spitting and swearing. They act as lone fighters, duel with words instead of bullets and ride into the sunset. They explore the clichés of the Western, fail at them, drive them into absurdity and overcome them. In doing so, they embark on a search for a wild, loud and yet caring form of connection.
