A young Viennese with Polish roots conducts surveys on the topic of "trust in democracy" for his job at an opinion research institute. It's actually a job like any other. If it weren't for his 16-year-old brother, who is increasingly turning into a right-wing extremist. His youngest brother is only ten years old - the same age as Erich when the Anschluss in 1938 turned his life into a catastrophe. Today Erich is 97 years old, lives in the flat below the three brothers and over the years has not only become a neighbour, but also a good friend, especially to his older brother. The story of his friend, who survived the Holocaust, simply won't let go of our protagonist. And so he tells the audience Erich's story from 1938-1945.
