Ephemeral Ontologies is a framework for the construction of algorithmically generated explorable worlds. It facilitates the creation of assets (dataset) and algorithms that interpret the metadata for the design of explorable architectures in real-time. Wien Chiaroscuro is an immersive VR experience developed with the Ephemeral Ontologies (EO) authoring tools. The project documents contemporary Viennese society through interviews with people and visits to the places they inhabit.

Artist, designer and professor Luc Courchesne creates engaging works in the field of interactive media art, which have been exhibited and collected around the world. He received Quebec’s Prix Paul-Émile-Borduas (2019) and Canada’s Governor General’s Award in Media Arts (2021). The graduate of NSCAD (Halifax, CA) and MIT (Cambridge, US) lives in Montreal. He was artist in residence at the MuseumsQuartier in November 2021.
