Heide Pichler (AUT): GOODWILL UNLIMITED

In her artistic work, Heide Pichler focuses on textiles and garments or clothing as a human attribute. It is not the fashion aspect but the connections with personal, cultural and social peculiarities and their stereotypes that are of interest. Textiles are collected, cut, deformed, twisted and turned in order to then present themselves as independent objects in a new context.

The work “goodwill unlimited” is based on the search for traces of clothing that has already been used. The clothes, however, leave the personal traces of the wearer behind and become representatives of socio-cultural characteristics.

During a study visit to Los Angeles, objects were created that create associations with the American stereotypes from the artist's childhood.
