The new edition of Open Systems is to publish a quarterly journal on various subjects as well as an interdisciplinary online exhibition within the context of ARTSLAB, whose primary focus is to bring different critical perspectives on art and visual culture to the surface in order to reach a broader audience. It is supported by an international advisory board of theorists, academics, cultural producers, curators and artists.
Guest editor Berin Gölönü focuses on how modes of surveillance and censorship operate in tandem to regulate our actions and curtail freedom of expression in various spheres, physical and virtual, public and private in the autumn issue of the Open Systems journal.
Christian Egger presents his ARTSLAB curatorial "Gocce di sole nella città degli spettri" that tackles with history and aesthetics related to the sphere of institutional critique in his PERFORMANCE / LECTURE. "Gocce di sole nella città degli spettri" brings together a variety of international artworks that engage in performance, video, sculpture and graphic works in black and white. Choosing these media is less important than the passionate interest in a particular field of force: politics, art and theory, which the project is outright referencing to.
