As a contribution to the "MQ Summer of Sounds" TONSPUR_passage shows a repeat production of TONSPUR 60 on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the Vienna Museum of Natural History.
In the summer of 2013, James Benning filmed at the Museum of Natural History and in the cupola ceiling of the foyer made a one-hour recording of the sounds that rise up from the lower floors: a mixture of steps, shouts, and screams, interspersed with voices, sirens, and museum announcements. He left the recording unedited. It is played in an endless loop in the TONSPUR_passage, displacing the original recording in time and space.
