A wandering figure traces tunnels through a space of possibilities and a neoclassical form breathes and mutates, overlooking a shifting horizon. An alchemy occurs when the outer world is transformed into film, questioning the nature of reality, exploring time and dimensionality by weaving fragments of the world into new patterns.

Ab 01.02.2013 präsentiert Van McElwee im ASIFAKEIL die Installation der beiden single-channel Arbeiten AND/OR und THE CAPITOL OF THE MULTIVERSE.
Zur Finissage seiner Ausstellung am 24. Februar 2013 und als Teil des Symposiums "under-the-radar" wird der Medienkünstler unter anderen auch die beiden Filme "Travel Dream" und "Dream Travel" als Europapremiere präsentieren.
Ein Vortrag über seine künstlerischen Methoden sowie die vielschichtigen Bezüge seiner Arbeiten zur Animation und deren konzeptioneller Aspekte wird Teil der Abschlussveranstaltung im Raum D /quartier21.

Van McElwee's body of work includes over fifty single channel pieces, installations and web projects. Grants and awards include: The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, The American Film Institute Independent Filmmaker Award, The National Endowment for the Arts Independent Production Fund and the Government of India. McElwee's work has been exhibited extensively worldwide and is represented by The Kitchen in New York, Bruno David Gallery in St. Louis, Heure Exquise! in France, Luxemburg, in the UK and the Inter Media Art Institute in Germany.
