Every technology has its own inherent malfunctions. Rosa Menkman is a Dutch visualist who concentrates on visual artifacts created by accident and as a result of malfunctioning digital media. The quartier21 Artist-in-Residence makes visuals resulting from malfunctions, glitches, feedback, and other forms of noise. Even though many people consider these \"accidents\" negative experience, Rosa emphasizes their positive consequences. Since her background is both practical and academic, her abstract work is founded in solid theory (impulse noise studies). During her stay in Vienna, Rosa Menkman will continue developing her current project, Collapse of PAL, and present it in the WORM space in the form of video loops.
