Transparency and Barrier Freedom - Reality or Metaphor? The chair of the jury, Boris Podrecca, described the winning project in the two-stage international competition for the adaptation of the Austrian National Assembly Chamber (2008) as a \"poetic project... that provides a lyrical response to the brief\". A modern appearance is one aspect, the functional demands of running a contemporary assembly hall, barrier-free use combined with the treatment of the listed historic substance and the fact that members of the government currently sit facing the speaker\'s back are further aspects to be taken into consideration in the realisation. The Az W is focusing on these three aspects of the brief to enquire into the current state of the planned building work.
