Featuring works by 20 international artists, the exhibition Interstices, curated by Edelbert Köb and Victor Zamudio-Taylor, gives a picture of the precarious state of affairs in an economized and mediatized world. The theme show was compiled from the holdings of the Collección Jumex, the most important collection of social and conceptual art in Latin America. Aside from works by Mark Dion, Sam Durant, Mike Kelley, and Rirkrit Tiravanija, the show mostly presents pieces by artists based in Latin America, such as Francis Alÿs, Gabriel Orozco, and Santiago Sierra. Starting out from general anthropological questions of identity and social affiliation, tension fields between nature, technology, and economy, between urbanism and depopulation, between multiculturalism and differentiation will be critically analyzed. The panel discussion will address developments of Latin American art of the past 15 years, with a special focus on Mexico.
