Vortrags- und Dokumentationsreihe, gedacht vor allem für Jugendliche zwischen 13 und 16 Jahren (zusammen mit ihren Eltern oder mit ihren Lehrerinnen und Lehrern), worin jeweils ein ,,Doppelsternsystem" hervorragender Mathematikerinnen und Mathematiker, verbunden mit Schilderungen des geistigen Umfelds ihrer Zeit, vorgestellt werden und die mathematischen Leistungen dieser beiden Persönlichkeiten im Kontext zu den daraus gefolgerten Errungenschaften der modernen Gegenwart anschaulich nahegebracht werden.

Ein wichtiges Ziel der "Mathematischen Doppelsterne" ist die Darstellung der Mathematik als Kulturfach - ein Aspekt, der in der gegenwärtigen Schulmathematik noch zu sehr vernachlässigt wird und dafür mitverantwortlich sein dürfte, der Mathematik ein schlechtes gesellschaftliches Image aufzuprägen. Als Ziel dieser Veranstaltungsreihe gilt es, Vorurteile gegen die Mathematik schon bei der Jugend gar nicht aufkommen zu lassen.
