Her artistic practice is deeply shaped by experiences of growing up in the Balkans during the post-war years, familial migrations across former Yugoslav states, and explorations of memory politics and the specificities of women’s struggles in the region. Živković has held solo exhibitions in Budapest, Prague, Belgrade, Bratislava, and Ljubljana andhas participated in group shows across Europe and US. She was featured at the Bienvenue Art Fair inParis (2021), and her work has been published in international art magazines such as Art Tribune, Kuba Paris, Easttopics, Nonfiction, and AQNB. She currently lives and works in Belgrade, Serbia. In 2023, Milica received the Milčik Award for Young Contemporary Artists, in 2025 she received mentorship Award by UNIQA SEE Future Foundation.
During her residency at MQ, the artist will develop new series of works for an upcoming exhibition in MQ Freiraum as part of the UNIQA SEE FUTURE Foundation mentorship program with Šejla Kamerić. The project “The Roots of Small Fires” continues her exploration of transformation — how symbols born from intimate memories of post-war reality evolve into forms of light and resistance. Through painting and sculptural installation, the artist examines the tension between divinity and violence, memory and denial, fragility and resistance.
