This human world – international human rights film festivaltime period
November 2025 - December 2025Fariba Haidari was born in Afghanistan and grew up in Iran. In addition to her nursing training, she completed courses in photography and film production. This artistic education laid the foundation for her later work combining social engagement and cinematic expression.
After returning to Afghanistan, she made several documentaries and short films. She also organised and led workshops and training courses in film and photography, both within her own organisation and in collaboration with international institutions carrying out similar projects in Afghanistan, particularly those promoting girls and young women.
In 2012, Fariba Haidari moved to Sweden, where she has since made two documentaries and a short feature film. She is currently working on a screenplay for a feature film and developing two new documentary film projects. Today, she works as both a nurse and a filmmaker.
In 2024, Haidari won the Expanded Shorts category at the this human world – international rights film festival with her film "Leila".
During her residency at MQ, Fariba Haidari will film interviews with the girl who is the main character in her new documentary film. At the same time, she will continue working on the screenplay she is currently writing. She also intends to participate in the this human world – international rights film festival (27.11. – 06.12.2025) in order to network with other filmmakers and further develop her project.
