Dr. Andrea Domesle, MAS, lives in Basel and nearby Vienna, studied Art History, Old and New German Literature, Philosophy and Cultural Management in Munich, Paris, Freiburg, Basel and Vienna. She wrote a doctoral these about light letters in arts (Reimer publishing house, Berlin 1998). After having worked as an assistant and curator in museums (Mannheim, Basel, Berlin, Salzburg) and as the chief redactor and co-editor of the photo magazine “Eikon” in Vienna and as the artistic director of Brotfabrik Galerie, Berlin, or Kunsthalle Palazzo Liestal/Basel she is now a freelance curator, art critic and lecturer. Her main interest focuses on relevant socio-political themes. She has a focus on experimental curatorial practice with border crossing collaboration (see videocitybs.ch, grenzgaengerproject.net, roomers-sight.net).
In addition, she is teaching about art history and curatorial studies at academies and universities in Usti nad Labem, Strasbourg, Basel, Zurich, Freiburg.
