Projectinfo

My engagement with the Austrian art scene has consisted of 1. art criticism (I have written longer essays on Get Together, North or Steve McQueen Austrian exhibitions for Umelec magazine), 2. catalogue writing (I have contributed an essay to the Eintritt frei catalogue of BAWAG Foundation), 3. talk (I have been invited to the panel of the Dispositiv Trigon, Kunsthaus Graz) and more recently 4. curatorial practice (I am working on the project that will confront Czech post-conceptual positions with Austrian kontext-kunst). My basic interest in the program is twofold: on the one hand I would like to extend my understanding of the research based art practices, their theoretical background and institutional framework on the other hand two months stay in the summer period will provide me free time without regular daily duties to focus on writing.

Documentation

Two months stay in q21 enriched my professional career strongly. It enabled me 1. to meet colleagues from institutions in Vienna and other cities (Generali Foundation, Kunsthalle Wien, Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary, Grazer Kunstverein, Museum der Moderne Salzburg and Salzburger Kunstverein among the others), 2. to focus on writing (I have worked on essay for the catalogue of 6th Biennial of the Young Artists to be published in autumn 2008) and most importantly 3. to put together the show that will confront critical artistic positions from Austria and Czech Republic (the show that is due for January–February 2009 in Vaclav Spala Gallery, Prague will include the works of Dominik Lang, Marketa Othova, Mathias Poledna and Florian Pumhösl).
